How does one read faster? That is something that has been on my mind recently. I find myself weighing every word on my mouth, even if all I am doing is reading. This makes me a slow reader which adds to my irregular reading habits. Perhaps it plays against me. That heaviness of every unspoken word on my tongue. I feel my tongue moving under tension, or maybe my mind and body are just playing tricks on me. I have tried to read faster by moving my eyes more intentionally across the lines and paragraphs. But then it feels like I am missing some things. That in my haste I left part of the meaning behind. Akin to watching a movie where frequently and regularly I would close my eyes, only letting in some frames. My tongue feels like a dead weight when I try to do this, and even my breathing changes. My tongue and chest get stiff, and I restrain my breathing. I can feel my tongue against the top of my mouth. I need to learn to read faster and remove this tension in my body. I have to do some reasearch on this subject. Another skill to work on!
